Ingredients

1 small onion

1 small carrot

250g lean beef mince

1 level tsp dried mixed herbs

2 tbsp tomato ketchup

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 level tsp Dijon mustard

Black pepper

2 tomatoes

4cm piece cucumber

8 small wholemeal rolls

8 little gem lettuce leaves

Method

1
Turn on the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Place the onion on the chopping board, cut it in half, then peel.
2
Coarsely chop the onion. Use a fork to hold each half in place on the chopping board. Slice it, then cut across the slices to chop into smaller pieces. Put in the bowl.
3
Peel the carrot and then cut off the tip.
4
Grate the carrot from the pointed end down until you just have the stem end left. Add the grated carrot to the onion.
5
Add the beef mince, herbs, ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce and mustard to the bowl. Season with 3 grinds of black pepper.
6
Mix gently with your hands until it's just evenly mixed.
7
Using your hands, shape the mix into 8 burgers and put on a non-stick baking tray. Wash your hands. Put into the oven and cook for 15 minutes.
8
While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomatoes and the cucumber with the knife. Take the burgers out of the oven – making sure you use the oven gloves.
9
Cut the rolls in half and fill with the burgers, tomato, cucumber and a lettuce leaf. Now your mini sliders are ready to eat!
