TD1 Youth Hub shared how FareShare’s assistance benefits their organisation
With assistance from FareShare, the organisation brings the young community together for meals and to interact in an informal environment.
“We provide food every night for the community, encouraging them to sit down around the table and eat, make eye contact and interact with friends,” shared Douglas Ormston, Manager of TD1 Youth Hub. “It’s very important to them, because this is something that they may not have the opportunity to do in their own homes.”
When it comes to putting food on the table, every bit makes a difference:
“We have a young parents group, aged 17-26, and they’ll often take food for home. If they can get a box or two of cereal for the kids, it’s only a few pounds but that’s one more fiver they can put in the electricity meter.”
