Customer Electrical Waste Recycling

If you’re planning to purchase a new electrical item from Asda, return your old one in store and we’ll recycle it!

Why Recycle?

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK’s fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and protecting the environment. Without recycling, electrical equipment will end up in landfill sites where hazardous substances can leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming both wildlife and human health.

How we can help...

We’re pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle old electrical items when purchasing a new item in store. For any electrical item you purchase from us either in store or online, we’ll recycle your old equivalent item for free. This is available at any of our large stores – just bring the receipt for your new item and speak to an Asda Colleague who will happily assist.

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires UK distributors to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of WEEE. UK distributors (including retailers) are required to provide a system that allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. As a responsible retailer, we have met these requirements by offering all customers buying new electrical and electronic equipment the chance to return their old electricals on a like-for-like basis.
