Step 1
Sign up, you can either use our in-store touchscreen or you can register online.
Step 2
Scan and bag each item as you shop. You can keep an eye on the total to see your spend as you go.
Step 3
When you’re finished, head to the Scan & Go checkout. Scan the QR code on screen with the handset and follow the instructions.
Scan & Go mobile app
Step 1
Download the Scan & Go Mobile app from your app store. Sign up in seconds or use your existing asda.com login details.
Step 2
Create a shopping list on your Scan & Go mobile app before you shop. When in store simply load your list and tick off the items as you go.
Step 3
Scan and bag each item as you shop. You can keep an eye on the total to see your spend so far.
Step 4
When you’re finished, head to theScan & Go checkout area. Scan the QR code with your mobile and follow the on screen instructions.
FAQ
If you’re using the mobile app, just open the app to see the closest available stores with Scan & Go mobile. For handsets as well as the app, visit our Store Locator and use the Scan & Go filter to see if this is available in any of your local stores.
Yes it’s free to use and open to everyone over the age of 18, as long as you have an email address and phone number to register your Asda account.
Our standard opening hours are 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and vary by store on Sunday. Opening hours for Scan & Go can also be found on our Store Locator page.
In most stores we provide handsets for customers to use. However, in some of our stores you can use the Scan & Go Mobile app via your mobile phone.
Our Scan & Go Mobile app is compatible with both iOS version 9.0 and above and Android version 5 and above.
Please make sure your mobile device has sufficient battery. If your battery goes flat you will need to pay for your shop in the normal way.
The items you have scanned will remain in your mobile basket for up to four hours. If you close the app, just open it again within this time and continue with your shop.
Yes absolutely, and why not try one of our specially designed Scan & Go trolley bags which you can re-use every time. These are usually located next to the handset wall.
Yes, Scan & Go is designed for you to pack as you go, so there’s no need to unload or pack at the checkouts.
We have weighing scales in the produce area where you can print a barcode that the handset or mobile app will scan.
The handset or app will alert you if an item is tagged, just put it to one side and a colleague will de-tag this for you at the Scan & Go checkouts.
Yes, if an age check is required this will take place at the checkouts as normal.
You can purchase anything using Scan & Go. Bakery items are the only things that won’t scan on the handset or via the app, just keep them to one side and you’ll be able to add them to your shop at the checkouts. Ask one of our Scan & Go colleagues if you need assistance.
The handset or your mobile will beep and add items to your basket as you scan them. You can also press the trolley symbol on the handset to toggle. If you’re unsure whether something has scanned, just let a colleague know at the checkouts and they will be able to help.
You should head to the dedicated Scan & Go checkout area in store and ask a colleague to assist you with replacing the handset.
Simply scroll through your list of items and select the item you wish to remove, simply click on the minus button to decrease or remove the item.
Just follow the simple step by step instructions on the checkout screen, this will transfer your shop to the checkout where you proceed to payment as usual.
Please go to the dedicated Scan & Go area - look out for the large hanging sign. If your store doesn’t have this, head to the self-checkouts. Our colleagues are trained to help you with questions about the service and any checks that need to take place.
A colleague will come over to help – they will need to rescan a proportion of your shopping. If this flags that any items in the basket haven’t scanned correctly, they will need to rescan the full shop.
If you need to pay with cash, please go to a Card & Cash Self-Checkout rather than the dedicated Scan & Go zone.
We use your information to register you for Scan & Go, verify your identity when you use the service going forward and to monitor for fraud purposes. Marketing preferences can be changed at any time by logging in to your account online and going into account settings. There’s always an “unsubscribe” link in emails, an option to reply “STOP” on SMS, and a return freepost address to stop postal direct marketing.
You can amend any of your Scan & Go account details yourself, by logging into your asda.com account using the email address or phone number you’ve provided to us. If it’s the first time you’ve used an asda.com account, you’ll be prompted to set up a password.
