Impress the whole family with these delightful nibbles, perfect for kicking off the celebrations in style. We've got some simple hacks, using pre-prepped solutions to make tasty simple canapés.
Sweet chilli prawns on prawn crackers
Succulent king prawns with a juicy mango and chilli topping, served on top of crispy crackers.
Things you'll need
Step-by-step
- Defrost Extra Special Jumbo Cooked King Prawns in the fridge for at least 8hrs or until completely thawed
- Dice the flesh of a ripe Grower’s Selection Large Mango. Add some Asda Sweet Chilli Sauce and Grower’s Selection Coriander, chopped, then toss to combine.
- Spoon 1 prawn each onto Asda Prawn Crackers and top with a spoonful of the mango and chilli sauce mixture. Sprinkle with a little Grower’s Selection Coriander, torn, then serve with lime wedges on the side.

Shredded duck with hoisin sauce on mini sweet potato waffles
Cook-from-frozen waffles and microwaveable duck make these great no-notice mini bites.
Things you'll need
Step-by-step
- Cook Asda Mini Potato & Carrot Waffles according to the pack instructions.
- Heat the duck from a pack of Asda Aromatic Shredded Duck according to the instructions and toss with the hoisin sauce from the pack, to coat. (The pancakes from the pack can be frozen to be used another time.)
- Top each of the mini waffles with a little of the hoisin duck mixture, and garnish with shredded spring onion and sliced red chilli. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.

Vegan red Thai curry jackfruit and salsa mini pittas
Team a spicy, flavour-packed ready-made curry with zingy avocado and lime salsa.
Things you'll need
Step-by-step
- Make a salsa by stirring together red onion, finely chopped, avocado, diced, and the zest and juice of a lime.
- Simmer tinned Asda Vegetarian Jackfruit Thai Red Curry in an uncovered pan until the sauce thickens.
- Halve some White Mini Pittas. Top each withalittle of the curry and the salsa, then finish with slices of red onion and sprinkle with black pepper.
- Serve with wedges of lime to squeeze over.

Melon and feta cubes
Quick and easy to assemble – stack chunks of melon and feta then add your garnish.

- Arrange cubes of melon from a pack of Asda Melon Medley on a platter and top each with a mint leaf.
- Dice some Extra Special Barrel Aged Greek Feta and some cucumber and arrange a small amount on top of each of the melon cubes.
- Drizzle balsamic glaze over the feta topping, then serve the finished cubes with more balsamic glaze on the side for dipping.
Christmas pudding truffles
Crumbled Christmas pud with plain and white chocolate, topped with fresh mint, makes an irresistible festive sweet.
Things you'll need
- Leftover Christmas Pudding
- Cream sherry (or grape juice)
- Asda Plain Chocolate
- White chocolate
- Mint sprigs, to decorate
Step-by-step
- Heat some Christmas Pudding according to the pack instructions (or microwave leftover pud). Set aside until just cool enough to handle but not completely cold.
- Crumble the warm pudding into a bowl and drizzle over a little cream sherry (or grape juice) to moisten. Melt some Asda Plain Chocolate; stir into the pudding until the mixture has a sticky consistency.
- Roll 1 dessert spoon at a time of the mixture between wet hands to form round truffles. Chill for 20 mins until firm.
- Melt white chocolate and drizzle over each truffle. Decorate with mint sprigs and leave to set before serving.
