Ingredients

300ml single cream

200ml semi-skimmed milk

4tbsp caster sugar

1tsp vanilla extract

5 eggs

75ml brandy or whisky, optional

6 Asda Reindeer Crumpets

1 orange, zest only, optional

Handful dried cranberries, optional

Method

Put the cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, eggs and brandy or whisky (if using) into a large bowl and whisk until everything is combined. Preheat the oven to 180?/160?/gas 4.

Lay the crumpets over a medium-sized baking dish (ours was 25×20cm), overlapping slightly so the tops of the heads are poking out, and pour over the cream mixture. Cover and leave to sit for 30 mins at room temperature so that the crumpets soak up some of the mixture.

Bake for 40 mins until the egg has set and is golden.

Leftovers tip: These baked crumpets are easily re-heated in the microwave: heat on full power in 30 seconds bursts until hot.
