Ingredients
225g self-raising flour
110g Asda Best for Baking Cakes Spread
75g mixed dried fruit
50g caster sugar
1 large egg, beaten
2tbsp semi-skimmed milk
1tbsp Demerara sugar
Method
1Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
2Sieve the flour into a large bowl and, using your hands, rub in the spread until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
3Add the dried fruit and caster sugar and stir to combine. Gradually stir in the beaten egg.
4Put 15 heaps of the mixture onto the baking tray, evenly spaced out – no need to flatten! Brush with the milk and sprinkle with the Demerara sugar.
5Bake for 10-15 mins until golden brown. Leave to cool on the tray then serve as a teatime treat.
