The last line in Roald Dahl's The Minpins is hard to forget, "And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."

Look for the glimmers of good. Keep an open mind. Look up from your phone. Don't get too caught up in yourself.

He really is a genius - however you want to interpret it.

In The BFG, humans don't believe in giants because they keep themselves out of sight - but that doesn't mean they're not there!

He cleverly reduces adult behaviour to banal silliness in his tales. We should take note!

Matilda

When Miss Trunchbull tells Matilda "I'm right and you're wrong, I'm big and you're little and there's nothing you can do about it," Matilda proves her wrong in the end.

From Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to The Witches, many of Roald Dahl's stories are about the underdog coming out on top and setting the world to rights - it's just about getting on and doing it. So believe in yourself and go forth and conquer!
