For years there has been a dispute festering at the heart of the crisp world. It&rsquo;s been a subject so contested, it&rsquo;s divided crisp lovers and foodies too &ndash; and it all boils down to what flavour the iconic green packaging should represent when it comes to crisps.Should it be cheese and onion or salt and vinegar? <img alt="walkers" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/walkers_GL?scl=1">Either way we still eat them - but according to a recent <a href="https://yougov.co.uk/news/2016/10/28/walkers-crisp-packet-colours-are-wrong-way-round-s/" target="_blank">YouGov survey</a> the majority of people think that cheese and onion colour should be green, whilst 30% say it should be blue.A further 10% say it should be yellow, which some of the gourmet crisp companies currently use.It seems as though Walkers is the anomaly of the crisp game when it comes to this dispute as the food manufacturer&rsquo;s salt and vinegar crisps come in green packaging, while the cheese and onion crisps are packaged in blue.The same can be said for salt and vinegar Walkers, which finds itself running colours counter to public perception.In the survey 48% say that the salt and vinegar crisp colour should be blue, whilst 32% say that green is the right colour.So strong are people&rsquo;s feelings about this subject, that <a href="https://www.walkers.co.uk/faq/brands-flavours" target="_blank">Walkers released a statement </a>to its crisp followers who were convinced that the colours used to be other way round.Walkers said: "Contrary to popular belief, Walkers cheese and onion have always been in blue packets, and salt and vinegar have always been in green packets."We don't have a plan to change this, as it's signature to our brand."The survey revealed that Walkers is on the right side of the public when it comes to its tasty ready salted crisps, however. <img alt="walkers_crisps_" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/walkers_GL?scl=1">A total of 72% of people said that red was the appropriate colour for this flavour and there is near-universal public agreement on prawn cocktail and beef flavours with 79% of people agreeing that the pink and brown packets should be the packaging colours for these flavours respectively.Love crisps?
