Make Stir Up Sunday into a fun activity by adding "charms" into the pudding mix. Traditionally, charms were added to the Christmas pudding in the Victorian times as it was believed they would bring good luck to whoever finds them (although not so lucky if you crack your tooth on one).
The traditional lucky charms were a silver coin for wealth, a wishbone for luck, a thimble for thrift, a ring for marriage, and an anchor for safe harbour. If you want to take part in this tradition, you could simply add silver coins wrapped in tin foil for hygiene into the cake. Just remember, if you choose to add any charms, be sure to check the pudding thoroughly before eating and serving to adults and children.

But don't beat yourself up if you don't have time to make your pud this weekend. You can always make it in a week or two, your pudding just won't have quite as much time to absorb plenty of rum or brandy before the big day.
