Is it your favourite that’s going?

Quality Street and its colourful sweet wrappers have long been synonymous with Christmas, but for some, this is going to be a festive season unlike any other.

What’s changing? The contents of the Quality Street tin, that’s what.

Having been around since the 1930s, Quality Street are steeped in nostalgia and of course, everyone has their favourite.

But Nestle has today confirmed that one iconic chocolate is facing the chop. Naturally, social media users are not happy.

In a statement released by a Quality Street spokesperson, Nestle has confirmed that the Toffee Deluxe will be replaced by an all new chocolate called Honeycomb Crunch.

It’s the first time in nearly a decade that the contents has been switched up, but some lovers of the Quality Street assortment have taken to Twitter to make their feelings quite clear on the surprise change.

Outcry on social media has prompted Nestle to release a statement justifying their controversial decision to swap out the Toffee Deluxe, in which the company has also explained that lots of research was done beforehand.

‘We have introduced the Honeycomb Crunch to celebrate Quality Street's 80th birthday and also as a reaction to public opinion, the statement reads.’

‘We went out and conducted surveys about what people wanted, their response was that there was too much toffee so the decision to make a change was made.’

‘The honeycomb crunch tested really well with consumers, they loved the idea and the flavour, which we have not used before.’
