Pantone’s predicted colour combo of the year is a great one for bringing a calm and relaxing vibe into your home.

And luckily, <a target='_blank'target='_blank'target="_blank" href="https://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year-2016">Pantone’s 2016 Colour of the Year</a> combination can help!</p>
<p>For the first time ever, the trend analysts at the Pantone Color Institute have chosen not one, but two shades to act as the colour scheme they believe will sum up the mood of the year: Rose Quartz (a pale pink) and Serenity (a sky blue).</p>
<p>The colour experts believe that the pairing acts as an excellent antidote to the stresses of modern life, helping us to feel relaxed, calm and more connected.</p>

<p>‘Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,’ explains Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director at the Pantone Color Institute.</p>
<p>‘Like a serene sunset, Rose Quartz encourages reflection on one’s surroundings while Serenity, a transcendent blue, provides a naturally connected sense of space.’</p>
<p>We think the shades are the perfect choice for everything from paint and wallpaper to rugs, cushions and accessories. Here’s how to work the colours into your own home, with a few tips from Pantone.</p>
<h2>KEEP THEM COMBINED</h2>
<p>The balance of the pink with the blue is what really has the most powerful effect, so keep the colours as a tag team rather than opting for just one or the other. If one shade makes it onto the walls of your room, use the other to accessorise and break things up.</p>
<h2>MIX IN OTHER COLOURS</h2>
<p>If the thought of a room decorated entirely in powder pink and sky blue doesn’t appeal (it’s not for everyone!), mix the colour combo with other shades. Pantone has suggested a few great colour scheme options that pair well with the hero hues including greens and purples, rich browns and all shades of yellow and pink. Add in silver or hot brights for a shot of glamour.</p>

<p>A great way to add a homely feel to these shades is to play around with the materials, fabrics and finishes they cover. You could a mix matte pink paint with a gloss finish blue for example, or use cushions in one colour alongside metallic ornaments or candle holders in the other.</p>
