She&rsquo;s always taking me to the park and buying me ice cream &ndash; my favourite flavours are blue bubblegum and strawberry. ‘I don&rsquo;t think Mummy would like blue hair, so I&rsquo;ve decided she should have pink, like strawberry ice cream. I had another operation last February, which triggered the menopause. Hot flushes don&rsquo;t exactly made me feel attractive! My normal look is thrown together with hand-me-down clothes, a bit of mascara, and my hair simply pinned back. When I saw my new do, I was over the moon &ndash; the pink is so stylish and subtle. From now on, I&rsquo;m definitely going to make the effort to carve out some me-time."<h2>The stuck-in-a-rut mum</h2>Denise Rawls, 46, a business development consultant, lives in Hackney, London, with her husband Cory, 44, and 10-year-old son, also called Cory.Cory says, ‘For as long as I can remember, my mum has worn her hair in a bun on the top of her head. The only time I&rsquo;ve ever seen it down is when she&rsquo;s just come out of the shower, or in old photos. Kingston says, "My mum looks fine normally but her hair is really boring &ndash; in the morning she looks like a bear, it&rsquo;s so big and wild! My favourite colour is bright red because I love strawberries and Spider-Man, and my favourite Power Ranger is the red one too, so I think that&rsquo;s the colour her hair should be. She&rsquo;s a really nice mummy because she gives me lots of cuddles and reads Spider-Man comics in bed with me and always sings me songs, so that&rsquo;s why she deserves a treat.
