La La Land tops the BAFTAs 2017 with eleven nominations

Hollywood musical La La Land, a musical romance starring actor Ryan Gosling and actress Emma Stone, is looking like one of the biggest films of this year, after it won a record-breaking seven Golden Globes in Los Angeles and has been nominated for a whopping 11 categories at the British Academy Film Awards. Eleven!!

Announced on Tuesday morning by Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner and actor Dominic Cooper, the nominations were streamed live on the BAFTA website and Facebook page.

As well as being up for best film, the movie’s stars, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, are up for best actor and actress respectively.

There are also plenty of Brits in the mix, with Hugh Grant, Emily Blunt and Andrew Garfield all up for awards.

Following closely behind La La Land is Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, which both received nine nods, and Manchester By The Sea which has bagged six nominations.

Next is I, Daniel Blake, Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, Hacksaw Ridge and Lion, which all received five nominations each.

The BAFTAs will be held on Sunday 12 February 2017, aired on BBC One.
