<h2>1. PREP STAR</h2><p>‘My mantra is, “Prep like a boss.” Once you&rsquo;ve decided to get fit and lean, you need to take time out each week to put in the groundwork. Food is important because, no matter how much you exercise, you can&rsquo;t out-train a poor diet. It&rsquo;s essential to shop for the right foods and plan exactly when you&rsquo;re going to fit in exercise. Prepare as much as you can in advance so that you give yourself the best fighting chance to achieve your goals.&rsquo;</p><h2>2. GOAL-KEEPING</h2><p>‘Set yourself realistic goals. If you&rsquo;ve never run before, don&rsquo;t agree to do a marathon in a month&rsquo;s time! One of the big mistakes people make is to try and do too much. Be realistic with your time and what you can commit to, then focus on that. You might aim to get up at 5am to fit in a four-mile run but, in reality, that snooze button is tempting and you&rsquo;ll only beat yourself up if you don&rsquo;t do it.&rsquo;</p><h2>3. GET GOING</h2><p>Now for action. I recommend 20 minutes two or three times a week. It&rsquo;s an achievable amount of time that you can fit in by getting up a bit earlier or even in the evening between your favourite TV shows. Incorporate this with something else you enjoy, like swimming, yoga, running or playing football.&rsquo;</p><h2>4. PACE YOURSELF</h2><br>'Again, take things one step at a time. Set yourself small goals to build up to one big, achievable ambition &ndash; that could be walking to work every day or mastering a new sporting skill. It&rsquo;s hard to stick to your exercise goals if you don&rsquo;t enjoy your workouts. Quick HIIT sessions are great, but anything that gets you moving is good for you. If you&rsquo;re enjoying it, you&rsquo;ll work harder without even realising.&rsquo;<h2>5. RUN IN THE FAMILY</h2><p>'Train with a partner, friend or colleague and you&rsquo;re less likely to skip a workout. You&rsquo;ll spur each other on to push harder - a little healthy competition never hurt anyone. It&rsquo;s important to get kids into exercise when they&rsquo;re young so it becomes habit and part of everyday life.
