Now that autumn is here, these eight-legged creatures are heading in - here's how to keep them out!

<p>There&rsquo;s plenty to look forwards to as temperatures drop and nights draw in - beautiful <a href="https://www.asda.com/good-living/recipe/butternut-squash-recipes" target="_blank">fresh produce</a>, <a href="https://www.asda.com/good-living/article/making-sloe-gin" target="_blank">fruity liquor</a>, cosy knits and <a href="https://www.asda.com/good-living/article/what-to-watch-autumn-tv" target="_blank">brilliant new TV shows</a>. </p><p>But with autumn finally here, there is one thing that we&rsquo;re not looking forwards to and that&rsquo;s all those creepy crawlies coming in from the garden and into our homes. </p><p>Although most species of spiders are totally harmless, that doesn&rsquo;t necessarily mean you want to invite them into your living space. But what can you do if you want to a spider-free home but don't want to hurt these arachnids either? Here are six easy ways for how keep spiders out of your home this autumn. </p><h2>Check for cracks</h2><p>Those pesky spiders have to get in somewhere, so check door openings and window sills for any cracks and seal with caulk. You can also cover any air vents and chimneys around the house with fine mesh.</p><h2>Essential oils</h2><p>Spiders supposedly dislike strong smells, and many people swear by diluting a few drops of essential oil into water and spritzing around the home (especially around windows and doors). Cats are natural-born hunters and while they won&rsquo;t necessarily eliminate every spider in your home, they do tend to catch anything they see sprinting across the floor. So turn off outdoor lights near your home to keep spiders away, and use blinds or curtains to keep indoor light from seeping out.</p><h2>Keep your home tidy</h2><p>It's boring, but keeping your home nice and clean will keep any creepy crawlies away. Spiders love to hide in dark and unkempt corners, so hoover and dust those cobwebs away to keep them from coming back. Sweep up any leftover bits of food that might attract insects that will in turn attract more spiders.
