<p>We use make-up brushes to give us a seamless finish, but if your application isn&rsquo;t as flawless as it once was and you&rsquo;re suddenly seeing red bumps on a usually clear complexion, then you might need to learn how to clean your make-up brushes.</p><p>Every time we use our brushes to apply our foundation or blusher, they are exposed to bacteria from old product, skin oil, dust and dirt. And without a regular clean, build-up gets transferred onto our skin with every brushstroke &ndash; which explains the clogged pores and pesky breakouts.</p><p>Luckily, learning how to clean your make-up brushes is a quick and easy process, so there&rsquo;s no reason to put it off any longer. Learn how to clean make-up brushes every two to four weeks to help keep your complexion clear.</p><h2>1. Rinse your brushes</h2><p>Run each brush under lukewarm water to rinse away all residual makeup. Use your hands to part the bristles, so each section gets a decent clean. Try to avoid letting water hit the barrel where the handle meets your brush head, as this can loosen the glue over time and cause the bristles to fall out.</p><h2>2. Shampoo your brushes</h2><p>Squirt baby shampoo in the palm of one hand and massage the liquid into your brush until it creates a rich lather. You should see dirt, excess makeup and oil that has been trapped in the bristles being released and darkening the solution.</p><h2>3. Rinse shampoo from your brushes</h2><p>Wash away the dirty shampoo on your brush head using lukewarm water again. Squeeze any excess water from your brush by pulling it through your thumb and index finger. If you can still see makeup pigment when you release the brush, then repeat the cleaning process again until the water is clear. It should take about two or three goes before clear water runs through, but this will depend on how often you use and clean your brush.</p><h2>4. Dry your bristles</h2><p>Use a paper towel to dry your bristles, reshaping them to the brush&rsquo;s natural form as you go. Dry it flat on your paper towel or, if you can, leave the brush head hanging over the edge of a table to keep your bristles from losing their shape.
