Ever wondered where J.K Rowling thought of the word ‘Quidditch&rsquo;?Well for those wondering, the author, screenwriter and film producer has revealed that she invented the word in a small hotel in Manchester after a row with her then-boyfriend.That&rsquo;s according to her annotated copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which discloses behind the scene secrets about the wonderful fantasy word of wizardry.The extremely rare first edition, which was annotated by Rowling in 2013 to raise money for literary network English PEN and the author&rsquo;s international charity, Lumos, includes 43 annotations.This includes 22 original drawings by the author, a sketch of baby Harry asleep and her thoughts on Quidditch.<img alt="harry-potter-with-wand__square" class="ci-image ci-square" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/harry-potter-with-wand__square_GL?scl=1">Earlier this week, the <a href="http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/entertainment/rare-first-edition-harry-potter-book-on-display-in-edinburgh-1-4309146" target="_blank">Edinburgh News</a> gave fans a sneak peek into Rowling's work of art, which is going on show at Edinburgh&rsquo;s Writers&rsquo; Museum.In the book, Rowling wrote: "Quidditch - was invented in a small hotel in Manchester after a row with my then boyfriend."I had been pondering the things that hold a society together, cause it to congregate and signify its particular character and knew I needed a sport."It infuriates men, in my experience (why is the Snitch so valuable etc), which is quite satisfying given my state of mind when I invented it."The hardback also contains an alternative Hogwarts crest, which features a bear instead of Hufflepuff's badger. So next time you're in Edinburgh, you can discover the display at the Writers&rsquo; Museum from Thursday December 8 until Sunday 8 January 2017.
