Ever wanted to wish upon a shooting star? How about wishing upon a hundred shooting stars?Amazingly, you could see up to 20 shooting stars per hour this October &ndash; thanks to the Orionid meteor shower, also known as ‘Halley&rsquo;s comet&rsquo;.The dust from Halley's Comet will produce an amazing meteor shower throughout October that should be visible across most of Britain &ndash; so fingers crossed for clear skies!<img alt="meteor2" class="ci-image ci-original" src="https://ui3.assets-asda.com/dm/meteor_GL?scl=1">Halley's Comet hasn&rsquo;t been visible from Earth since 1986, but pieces of the space rock can still be seen every autumn, when the Earth intersects with the comet&rsquo;s orbit around October 20-22 every year. Pieces of the comet disintegrate in the Earth&rsquo;s upper atmosphere, nearly 60 miles up, creating the spectacular fireworks display.The Met Office has confirmed that this year the Orionid meteor shower will be visible from 2 October to 7 November, peaking on 20 October. The best time to see the shooting stars is between midnight and dawn on October 21 and October 22. Good luck stargazers, and don&rsquo;t forget to make a wish (or 20).
