Coconut water fans, you need to check out these smoothie recipes

Last year the whole world went mad for coconut water – the super refreshing drink was flying off the shelves as people looked for something to quench their summer thirst.

And now Asda have launched their own coconut water in time for the spring and summer months.

We love drinking it just on its own, but did you know that it’s also delicious in a smoothie?

Try adding it to your favourite smoothie blend to add a touch of tropical flavour, or try one of our delicious and refreshing recipes below.

    Pineapple and watercress smoothie

If you’ve never thought of putting watercress in a smoothie, you should give this pineapple and watercress smoothie a whirl. Mixed with super ripe pineapple, ginger, lime and coconut water, the watercress adds a bitter note to the sweet fruit flavour.

    Ginger carrot smoothie

This delicious smoothie is made by soaking cashew nuts in coconut water overnight, then blitzing with carrots, ginger, lemon and turmeric. The cashews give the drink a lovely creamy texture and the coconut water adds a touch of the tropical. Plus the ginger is a great way to give a zing to your morning routine. Give it a try for breakfast for all the family.

    Cheat's frozen smoothie

If you don't have fruit in the fruit bowl but you're craving a smoothie, then you need to pick up these frozen smoothie mixes.

Pick up a summer fruits and banana smoothie mix – with strawberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberries and sliced banana, or a mango and pineapple smoothie mix. Instead of blitzing with apple juice, try coconut water instead and enjoy your fruity fix in a matter of seconds.
